Lone Tree Photo Show

Exploring the Light

The 21st Annual Exploring the Light Photo Show will be from April 6th – June 5th, 2023. The Best of Show will be from June 8 – July 16, 2023.  The show is presented by the Lone Tree Arts Commission and the Lone Tree Photo Club, with support from the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD). See the world through a different lens with the Exploring the Light Photo Exhibit at the Lone Tree Arts Center. Local photographers come together to create a visual collage of different styles, subjects and sentiments.

April 4th – Drop-off Images: 5:00pm-7:00pm
April 8th – Opening Reception: 4:00pm-6:00pm
June 6th – Pick-up Images: 3:00pm-6:00pm

Jurying and Awards

Individual images submitted via CaFE TM are juried by a blind jury review process. Invited images are juried for awards based on final presentation of artwork including the image quality, content, frame, mat, and tile. Photographer identification will be hidden from view when jurying. Total cash awards are estimated at $3,350. Best of Show as well as first and second place winners in each category will be awarded gallery space for several weeks after the show at the Lone Tree Arts Center. Awards include first, second, and third place in each category, along with Best of Show and People’s Choice.

Entry and Fees

Photographers must apply via CaFE TM by the entry deadline of Monday, February 27th, 2023. Up to 3 entries may be submitted by an individual. A non-refundable $35 entry fee is required. Fees may be paid via credit card on CaFE TM or check made payable to the City of Lone Tree and mailed to: Lone Tree Arts Center, c/o Photo Show, 10075 Commons Street, Lone Tree, CO. 80124.

Opening Reception

Saturday, April 8, 2023 from 4pm-6pm

2023 Juror – Shannon Squires-Towes

Shannon is a nationally recognized award-winning photographer based in Colorado Springs. She is a two-time Professional Photographers of America 1st Place recipient of the Grand Imaging Award in Children Portraits. In 2021, in addition to her 1st Place in Children’s Portraits, she also won the prestigious over all 1st Place trophy among over 5000 images entered. In 2022, two of her images were featured as part of Team USA in the World Photographic Cup.

Shannon has been featured on the cover Professional Photographer magazine on multiple occasions. She holds a Master Photographer degree and is a Certified Professional Photographer through the Professional Photographers of America. In addition, she has an Associates in Applied Arts Degree for Commercial Photography form the Art Institute of Seattle.

When she is not creating art for her clients, she invests in the photography community by teaching in Colorado, across the U.S.A., and abroad. She also enjoys volunteering and participating in charity work.

Exploring the Light – 2023 Photo Show Book for Purchase

With the photographers’ permission, the Lone Tree Photo Club will compose a book with accepted entries representing Exploring the Light 2023. Accepted images will be printed with the photographer’s name and information about the image such as location, camera and the story behind the photo. Exploring the Light will be available for viewing and purchase online after the close of the show.
