“Virtuosic keepers of a cultural flame. . . . Bringing folklore and cultural memory into a performance that unfolded as breezy entertainment.” —New York Times
Escape the cold and spend an evening with three Slack Key Guitar Masters, regularly featured at Maui’s renowned “Slack Key Show®.” Together, they’ll share Hawai‘i’s unique folk styles, with origins in the early 19th century Hawaiian paniolo (cowboy) culture and evolving into one of the signature sounds of contemporary Hawaiian music. Four-time Grammy-winner and master slack key guitarist George Kahumoku Jr.; National Heritage Fellow Led Kaapana, known for his exceptional picking style on guitar and ‘ukulele; and master ukulele and Na Hoku and Hawai’i Music award-winner Herb Ohta, Jr. come together for an evening of songs, stories, and Hawaiian aloha. Kalama Polynesian Dancers join the guitarists onstage as special guests.
New subscription packages (three or more performances) go on sale through the box office on Tuesday, July 6. Individual tickets go on sale July 13, 2021.
