One of the most successful Jamaican-American pop stars in history, Harry Belafonte was dubbed the "King of Calypso" for popularizing the Caribbean musical style with an international audience in the 1950s. His breakthrough album, Calypso (1956), is the first million-selling LP by a single artist. Fly to Jamaica with Leonard Barrett, Jr. and a fine Caribbean band led by Donna Debreceni.

Arts in the Afternoon is a monthly hour-long program that usually takes place once a month on a Wednesday afternoon at 1:30pm. The series features some of the finest classical, jazz, opera, and other musicians from the metro Denver area. Each show includes a significant educational component, with the professional musicians or their narrators sharing historical and artistic insights about the music they play. During our in-person performances, you can enjoy complimentary refreshments and conversation with artists after each performance.
