About the event
“The mind-melding between the two is sublime, with melodic rhythmic patterns performed on piano as well as a variety of beat-makers big and small.” -NPR
Pianist Alfredo Rodriguez, born into a prominent Cuban musical family, trained in classical conservatories, while percussionist Pedrito Martinez honed his deeply rooted Afro-Cuban folkloric percussion and vocal techniques on the streets of Old Havana. Despite their different beginnings, both rose to fame by dazzling audiences worldwide, earning praise from jazz and pop culture tastemakers like Wynton Marsalis and Quincy Jones. Now, after years of growth and artistic evolution, Rodriguez and Martinez take center stage for a high-energy evening that pulses with the spirit of Cuban musical traditions.
