About the event
Celebrate the many moods of February with pianist Stephanie Cheng performing George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue. Premiered in February 1924, Gershwin’s classic brings jazz-inspired energy and color to the center of this program. The concert also explores music connected to February holidays, including Valentine’s Day, Brazil’s Carnival, Black History Month, and President’s Day through music ranging from romance and celebration to reflection, including Aaron Copland’s Lincoln Portrait.
