Join us for this free workshop in partnership with the Alzheimer’s Association. Please note that this is an event for caregivers specifically. This is not a regular SPARK session.
Ralph Patrick will present on Effective Communication Strategies. He’ll teach caregivers to decode verbal and behavioral communication by someone with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. Participants will leave with strategies for meaningful connection with people in early, middle, and late-stage dementia.
Steve Sorensen will present an art component using images of his photography projected on the screens. This program will be educational and will help give caregivers tools that they can utilize to engage their loved one through questions about visual photos or art.
Refreshments will be served at the end of workshop.

About our Presenters
About Ralph Patrick
Ralph Patrick is the son of Jean who died of Alzheimer’s in 2012. Her diagnosis in 2001 introduced Ralph reluctantly into the world of Alzheimer’s. After serving as a volunteer for the Alzheimer’s Association for five years, he became a staff member in 2016 as a Regional Director responsible for starting and expanding the Boulder and Mountain region. He currently serves as the Director of Community Engagement for the Denver/Metro and southwestern part of Colorado.
About Steve Sorensen
Steve Sorensen is a native of Colorado and prior to becoming a full time photographer, he had a successful 35 year corporate executive career then spent 15 years as an Executive Coach. He’s won several awards for his art and has had the opportunity to travel to 81 countries, all 50 states, and 7 continents.
The goal of his art is to capture a visual story and induce an emotional, visceral response. His photos create a story within themselves.
