Recent guidance has been given that dancers are required to wear masks while performing in front of a live audience. Because Flamenco is such a strenuous dance form, dancers are unable to wear masks. We are therefore postponing the performance, and will reschedule it sometime this spring. Ticketholders have been contacted with further information.
Legendary local flamenco guitarist René Heredia’s Flamenco Fantasy Dance Theatre brings the heart and soul of Spanish gypsy flamenco to the Main Stage, complete with colorful costumes, castanets, stomping feet, and fiery passion. With roots in Granada, Spain, René was surrounded by masters of flamenco dance and music from birth, became a flamenco guitar virtuoso in his teens, and performed internationally with the world’s most renowned flamenco dancers. Upon moving to Colorado in 1968, Heredia formed Flamenco Fantasy Dance Theatre to bring the authentic sounds and sights of flamenco to the Denver region. In this performance, three dancers blend light, graceful arm movements, syncopated hand-clapping, and powerful, synchronized foot work to the beautiful music of talented flamenco guitarist Andréana Cortés, René’s niece. Don’t miss the mystery, emotion, and soul of authentic flamenco. Olé!
